Plus Size World, A Bit About Us

Dear Visitor,

Thank you for visiting Plus Size World. We are happy to have you here. If you will allow me a bit of time I should like to tell you a little about us and who we are.

We . . . is basically ME. :-) I will occasionally hire out some work to be done, but I it is still pretty much a one woman show here.

We are a homeschooling family and I work from home. I have three small helpers here with me all day every day who are all beginning first grade this fall. (They are not triplets, but twins and a single and spaced close.) They are very good to help me whenever I ask. I have another business which I also run from home which requires a lot of boxing and shipping. My three little ones have become quite good at helping with that. So I guess technically WE really is the correct term. :-)

I am a plus size woman and have been my entire life. Well, actually a plus size baby/child at first, of course. Fat and happy all my life, with the exception of one lonely period . . . and, well, we won't get into that. Basically, when I'm happy I eat and I've been happy most of the time. :-) (Knock on wood, hoping to stay that way.)

Finding clothing which is stylish and fits well has always been a challenge. Many years ago (it seems like another lifetime), when I was single, childless and had oodles of free time I used to make all my own clothing. It was a necessity for me at the time. Internet was not yet a household word, and I lived pretty much in the boonies of Oklahoma many miles from the nearest plus size clothing store.

I am no longer forced to make my own clothing, and all I can say is "Thank God!" As a 42-year-old work-at-home, stay-at-home homeschooling mom to three young children and I simply wouldn't have the time.

Fortunately, the Internet is thriving with opportunity. I can find just about anything I need, and many things I don't need, but really, really want right here in the comfort my own home. All this done at two o'clock in the morning, which is my "quiet time". :-)

I've spent years collecting these links and sharing them with others when I find something really great. The idea to create this site came about one day as I sat here with a book trying to teach myself HTML and web programming. Reading the examples from the book and testing on what they used as examples just wasn't getting it for me. I learn best by diving right in the middle of it all. I NEEDED A PROJECT!

This website is that result. I have enjoyed building it, learning as I go, and you will hopefully enjoy exploring its resources and using its contents.
